The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), located in Princess Anne, Maryland, is a public historically black land-grant institution known for its rich legacy since its founding in 1886. Situated roughly 13 miles south of Salisbury and a couple hours' drive from major cities like Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia, the campus exudes a serene rural atmosphere, spread across 1,100 acres of the Eastern Shore peninsula. UMES offers a diverse array of academic programs with notable emphasis on the health professions, science, engineering, technology, and agriculture. The university maintains a moderately selective admission process and provides on-campus living accommodations in its residential halls, fostering an immersive educational experience.
