Coppin State University is a public historically Black institution located in western Baltimore, Maryland, approximately three miles from the city's downtown district. The university, which began as a teacher training school in 1900, operates on an urban 52-acre campus characterized by modern academic buildings and recently constructed student residence halls. CSU offers undergraduate and graduate programs through four academic colleges, with particular emphasis on nursing, criminal justice, education, and business programs.
