Loyola University Maryland is a private Jesuit institution situated in northern Baltimore, approximately 15 minutes from the Inner Harbor and an hour from Washington, D.C. The 80-acre Evergreen campus features Gothic architecture and landscaped grounds in a residential area of the city. Founded in 1852 as the first college in the United States to bear the name of Saint Ignatius Loyola, the university maintains its Catholic traditions while serving students of all religious backgrounds. The university offers liberal arts education through its three main academic divisions: the School of Arts and Sciences, the Sellinger School of Business and Management, and the School of Education, with business and communication programs drawing particular interest. Students are required to live on campus for their first two years, with housing options ranging from traditional residence halls to apartment-style accommodations.
