Salisbury University occupies a 200-acre campus on Maryland's Eastern Shore, situated approximately 30 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and 115 miles from both Baltimore and Washington, D.C. The institution, founded in 1925 as a teachers' college, has evolved into a comprehensive public university while maintaining its historic Georgian architectural style across most campus buildings. Academic programs are centered around four schools, with particular strength in nursing, business, and education, while the Perdue School of Business serves as a regional center for entrepreneurship and professional development. The university maintains a primarily residential campus with most first-year students living in one of the seven traditional residence halls or suite-style housing complexes. As a member of NCAA Division III, Salisbury competes in 21 varsity sports, with its men's lacrosse program having achieved multiple national championships.
