Located in Purchase, New York, approximately 30 miles north of Manhattan, Purchase College is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, established in 1967 as a public arts and liberal arts institution. The 500-acre suburban campus features modernist architecture, including notable buildings designed by Philip Johnson and other prominent architects of the 1960s and 1970s. Purchase College combines professional conservatory programs in the visual and performing arts with strong liberal arts and sciences curricula, with particularly recognized programs in dance, music, theater, film, and visual arts. The campus houses most first-year students in traditional residence halls, while upperclassmen have access to apartment-style living options. The Neuberger Museum of Art and the Performing Arts Center serve as major cultural venues for both the campus community and the wider Westchester County region.
