The University of Rhode Island (URI), established in 1892 as an agricultural school and now the state's flagship public research university, is situated in the quaint town of Kingston, Rhode Island, approximately 30 miles southwest of Providence. URI offers a campus noted for its rural setting and historic structures, with a variety of architectural styles including late Victorian era buildings.
