The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) is located in Syracuse, New York, adjacent to Syracuse University's campus and operating in close academic partnership with the larger institution. The college, established in 1911 as the New York State College of Forestry at Syracuse University, occupies a main campus in Syracuse with additional properties including experimental forests and biological stations throughout New York State. ESF specializes in environmental science, natural resources management, sustainability studies, and forest sciences, with particular emphasis on programs in environmental engineering, paper engineering, and conservation biology.
