Jackson State University (JSU), founded in 1877, is a public historically black university (HBCU) situated in Jackson, Mississippi. As an urban campus sprawling across a 245-acre land area, JSU offers a diverse range of academic programs, with a notable emphasis on science, engineering, business, and education.
