The University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) is a private Catholic institution located in northwest Detroit, Michigan, operating across three campuses in the metropolitan area. Founded in 1877 by the Jesuits as Detroit College, the university acquired its current identity after merging with Mercy College of Detroit in 1990. The main McNichols Campus features distinctive Gothic and modernist architecture across its 70-acre urban setting, while the Corktown Campus houses the dental school and the Riverfront Campus contains the law school. UDM maintains a comprehensive academic portfolio with particular strengths in nursing, engineering, architecture, and pre-professional programs, operating under both Jesuit and Mercy educational traditions. The university provides traditional residence halls primarily for undergraduate students, while competing in NCAA Division I athletics as the Detroit Mercy Titans, notably in men's and women's basketball.
