Eastern Michigan University (EMU), situated in Ypsilanti, Michigan, is a comprehensive public institution established in 1849. The university's campus is noted for its historic and extensive use of educationally purposed buildings constructed in the International Style, particularly those designed by architect Joseph E. Mills. Approximately 40 minutes from downtown Detroit, the campus blends urban and suburban environments, offering a diverse setting for its student body. EMU provides a range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, with notable focus areas in education, business, and the health sciences. The university's admissions process is considered moderately selective. Student housing is available across numerous residence halls and apartment complexes on campus.
