University of Massachusetts Amherst, established in 1863, is a public research university located in the picturesque town of Amherst, Massachusetts, approximately 90 miles west of Boston. As the flagship campus of the UMass system, it boasts a diverse academic portfolio with a notable reputation in disciplines such as computer science, engineering, public health, and natural sciences. The campus spreads across 1,450 acres with a mix of contemporary and historic architecture and offers a variety of student housing options, including residence halls and apartment complexes.
