Located in the highlands of Southwest Virginia, Emory & Henry College occupies a rural 335-acre campus in the town of Emory, approximately 30 miles from the Tennessee border. Founded in 1836 as a Methodist-affiliated liberal arts institution, the college features Georgian and Greek Revival architecture across its historic district, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The college maintains a liberal arts focus with notable programs in education, business, and health sciences, while also operating a School of Health Sciences campus in nearby Marion, Virginia. Emory & Henry provides traditional residential housing options with most students living in campus dormitories, and competes in NCAA Division III athletics as the Wasps through the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
