Spelman College, a private historically Black women's liberal arts institution, is situated in Atlanta's West End Historic District, approximately three miles from downtown. Established in 1881 as the Atlanta Baptist Female Seminary, the campus features a mix of Victorian-era and modern buildings across its 39-acre urban campus. As one of the nation's most selective historically Black colleges, Spelman maintains rigorous admission standards and is particularly known for its programs in STEM fields, social sciences, and arts.
