Morehouse College, a private historically Black liberal arts institution for men, is situated on a 61-acre campus in Atlanta's historic West End district. Founded in 1867 during the Reconstruction era, the college maintains a legacy as the nation's only all-male HBCU and counts Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. among its distinguished alumni. The college operates as a selective undergraduate institution with particular academic strengths in business administration, biology, political science, and social sciences. Morehouse's Victorian-era architecture and newer academic facilities form a compact urban campus where most freshmen and sophomores reside in traditional dormitories. The college competes in NCAA Division II athletics as the Maroon Tigers, while maintaining strong partnerships with neighboring institutions within the Atlanta University Center Consortium.
