Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, founded in 1824 and located in Troy, New York, is an esteemed private research university situated approximately 150 miles north of New York City. The campus reflects a blend of historical and modern architecture with facilities that support its reputation as a leading institution in engineering, science, and technological research. Known for its rigorous academic environment, Rensselaer offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs with a high level of selectivity in admissions. Popular majors include Engineering, Computer Science, and Business Management. The institute provides residential options to students with a variety of on-campus housing facilities. Rensselaer's athletic teams, known as the Engineers, compete in the NCAA Division III, except for the men?s and women's ice hockey teams, which compete at the Division I level.
