Located on the New York side of Niagara Falls, Niagara University sits on a scenic escarpment overlooking the Niagara River gorge, approximately 20 minutes from Buffalo. Founded in 1856 by the Vincentian community, this private Catholic institution operates from a traditional campus featuring both historic and modern buildings. The university maintains four academic colleges offering undergraduate and graduate programs, with particular strengths in hospitality and tourism management, education, and business administration. First-year students are required to live in one of the six campus residence halls, which accommodate approximately half of the total student population. As a NCAA Division I institution, Niagara competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, with men's and women's basketball serving as the flagship athletic programs.
