Monmouth University, situated in West Long Branch, New Jersey, is a private university that provides a picturesque coastal setting only one hour from New York City. Chartered in 1933, it became a university in 1995 and now encompasses a 170-acre campus renowned for its historic architecture, including the National Historic Landmark, Wilson Hall. Monmouth offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs with particular emphasis on business, education, communication, nursing, and social work. With a moderately selective admissions process, the university attracts a diverse undergraduate population. Student housing is plentiful, with a variety of residence halls and apartment-style living options available on campus. Monmouth University is also recognized for its Hawks athletic programs, competing in the NCAA Division I in various sports, including basketball and football.
