Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU), located in Itta Bena, Mississippi, offers a quintessential rural campus setting surrounded by the rich Southern landscape. Established in 1950, MVSU is part of the historically black university system with a focus on providing quality education in the Mississippi Delta region. MVSU is within convenient driving distance from the city of Greenwood and approximately 100 miles north of the state capital, Jackson. The university is known for its concentrated academic programs in education, business administration, and the health sciences. With a moderately selective admissions process, MVSU attracts a diverse student body seeking both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. On-campus housing is available, providing residential students with the convenience of living close to academic and campus resources. Not widely celebrated for its athletic programs, MVSU nonetheless participates in NCAA Division I as a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, fielding teams across various sports, known as the Delta Devils and Devilettes.
