Oakland University sits on 1,443 acres in Rochester Hills, Michigan, approximately 30 miles north of Detroit. Founded in 1957 on land donated by automotive pioneers Alfred and Matilda Wilson, the campus features a blend of modern academic buildings and restored historic structures from the original Meadow Brook estate. The university maintains a comprehensive academic program with particular strengths in engineering, business, health sciences, and the performing arts, anchored by the School of Engineering and Computer Science and the School of Business Administration. Students can choose from multiple housing options across six residence halls and two apartment complexes on the suburban campus. The Golden Grizzlies compete in NCAA Division I athletics as members of the Horizon League, with basketball games played at the O'rena, the university's 4,000-seat athletic facility.
