North Georgia College & State University, located in Dahlonega, Georgia, is a public university established in 1873. The campus, situated approximately an hour north of Atlanta, is known for its picturesque setting in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and features a blend of historic and modern architecture. The university emphasizes a strong military heritage as one of six Senior Military Colleges in the United States, and it is characterized by a moderately selective admissions process. Academically, North Georgia is recognized for its leadership and military science programs, as well as its strong emphasis on science and business degrees. The campus includes on-campus housing options for students. While athletics are present, the university is not predominantly known for its sports programs; however, it competes in intercollegiate athletics as the Nighthawks.
