Located in Dahlonega, Georgia, approximately 60 miles north of Atlanta in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, North Georgia College & State University (now part of the University of North Georgia following a 2013 merger) operates as one of six senior military colleges in the United States. The campus, established in 1873, features distinctive gold-steeped architecture and a historic drill field at its center, reflecting both the area's gold rush heritage and its military tradition. The institution maintains a Corps of Cadets program alongside its civilian student population, with all residential cadets required to participate in ROTC. Academic programs emphasize military science, nursing, education, and business, while the university has gained recognition for its cybersecurity and international affairs curricula. The campus provides traditional dormitory housing for both civilian students and cadets, with separate military-style barracks designated for the Corps of Cadets.
