Berry College occupies a 27,000-acre campus in Mount Berry, Georgia, approximately one hour northwest of Atlanta, making it the largest contiguous college campus in the world. Founded in 1902 by Martha Berry as a school for rural children, the institution has evolved into a private liberal arts college featuring Gothic-style architecture and extensive forests, meadows, and lakes that serve as both recreational spaces and outdoor classrooms. The college maintains a selective admission process and is known for its hands-on student work program, where all students participate in on-campus employment as part of their educational experience. Academic strengths include programs in animal science, education, and business, while the campus houses nearly all undergraduate students in residence halls and apartment-style living spaces that complement the rural, forested setting. The NCAA Division III athletic program competes in the Southern Athletic Association.
