Located in the northern panhandle of West Virginia, Bethany College occupies a historic 1,300-acre campus in the small town of Bethany, situated 40 miles southwest of Pittsburgh. Founded in 1840 by Alexander Campbell, Bethany stands as the oldest degree-granting institution in West Virginia and maintains its affiliation with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
