Randolph-Macon College, established in 1830, is a private liberal arts institution located in the town of Ashland, Virginia, approximately 15 miles north of Richmond. The college campus is noted for its historical buildings with Georgian architecture and offers a variety of undergraduate degrees across the sciences, arts, and humanities, with notable strength in biology and chemistry programs. As a residential college, Randolph-Macon requires students to live on campus for their first three years, providing an integrated living and learning environment. The college operates on a 4-1-4 academic calendar, featuring two four-month semesters and a one-month January term, which allows students to focus on a single intensive course. With a moderately selective admissions process, the college assesses applicants through a comprehensive review of academic and extracurricular credentials. While Randolph-Macon fields a range of NCAA Division III athletic teams, known as the Yellow Jackets, it is not primarily recognized for its athletic programs.

In the most recent statistical year 2,446 prospective students applied, and 2,090 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 415 enrolled in the school.  1,450 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 40 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $44,930 plus fees of $1,530. Randolph-Macon is ranked 483 nationally in the CollegeSimply.com 2024 U.S. Colleges Ranking.
