Longwood University is located in Farmville, Virginia, a small town situated approximately 65 miles southwest of Richmond in the heart of Virginia's Piedmont region. The campus features distinctive Jeffersonian architecture, anchored by the historic Ruffner Hall with its iconic rotunda, and spans 154 acres in a traditional collegiate setting. Founded in 1839 as the Farmville Female Seminary Association, Longwood stands as one of the oldest public institutions in Virginia and became coeducational in 1976.
