Castleton State College (now Castleton University) is located in the small town of Castleton in western Vermont's Lakes Region, approximately 15 miles west of Rutland. The institution, established in 1787, stands as Vermont's first institution of higher education and operates from a traditional New England campus featuring a mix of historic buildings and modern facilities.
