Texas A&M University-Kingsville is located in the South Texas city of Kingsville, situated approximately 40 miles southwest of Corpus Christi. Originally established in 1925 as South Texas State Teachers College, the institution became part of the Texas A&M University System in 1989 and operates on a 250-acre main campus characterized by Spanish Colonial Revival architecture. The university maintains strong academic programs in engineering, particularly natural gas engineering, as well as agriculture, veterinary technology, and music education. TAMUK provides on-campus housing through several residence halls and apartment complexes, while its athletic programs compete at the NCAA Division II level as the Javelinas, notably in football and track and field.
