Rhodes College occupies a wooded 110-acre campus in the historic Midtown district of Memphis, Tennessee, characterized by its Collegiate Gothic architecture and limestone buildings. Founded in 1848 and relocated to its current Memphis location in 1925, Rhodes maintains its affiliation with the Presbyterian Church (USA) while operating as an independent liberal arts institution. The college emphasizes undergraduate education in the humanities and sciences, with particularly strong programs in English, international studies, and biochemistry and molecular biology. Students are required to live on campus for their first three years, residing in Gothic-style residence halls that complement the campus architecture. Located minutes from downtown Memphis, Rhodes provides students with access to internships and research opportunities at nearby institutions, including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the National Civil Rights Museum.
