La Roche University, located in the North Hills suburb of McCandless Township nine miles from downtown Pittsburgh, operates on a 156-acre campus characterized by modern academic buildings and residential facilities. Originally established in 1963 by the Sisters of Divine Providence as a private Catholic institution for religious women, La Roche now serves a diverse student population while maintaining its Catholic heritage. The university offers more than 50 undergraduate programs with particular emphasis on business, design, and health science disciplines, along with several graduate degree options. Students can choose from five residence halls for on-campus living, and the institution competes in NCAA Division III athletics as the Redhawks in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
