Situated in the Allegheny Mountains of central Pennsylvania, Juniata College occupies a 110-acre main campus in the borough of Huntingdon, approximately 130 miles east of Pittsburgh. Founded in 1876 by members of the Church of the Brethren, this private liberal arts college maintains its historic stone buildings and modern facilities within a residential campus setting. The college is known for its distinctive Program of Emphasis system, which allows students to design their own course of study, and has established strong reputations in pre-medical sciences, peace studies, and business entrepreneurship. Juniata's academic structure emphasizes undergraduate research and experiential learning, with nearly all students living on campus in traditional residence halls or theme houses. The college competes in NCAA Division III athletics as the Eagles, participating in the Landmark Conference.
