Lewis & Clark College sits on a 137-acre wooded campus in southwest Portland, Oregon, six miles from the city's downtown core. Established in 1867 as Albany Collegiate Institute before relocating to Portland in 1938, the college occupies the former estate of Oregon pioneer Lloyd Frank and features Tudor-Gothic architecture alongside contemporary academic buildings. The private liberal arts institution maintains a selective admission process and is organized into three schools: the College of Arts and Sciences, the Law School, and the Graduate School of Education and Counseling. Environmental studies, international affairs, and psychology rank among the most pursued undergraduate programs, while students engage in extensive overseas study opportunities through the college's global initiatives. All first-year students reside in campus housing, with traditional residence halls and themed living communities available for upperclassmen.
