Racial Diversity

Racial Diversity Index: 68%

Racial diversity is the chance that two students chosen at random are from different racial or ethnic groups, using the U.S. Census Bureau Diversity Index. Students at NSU are predominantly White with a smaller American Indian/Alaskan population. The school has high racial diversity. 50% percent of students are minorities or people of color (BIPOC). The ethnic breakdown is detailed in the following table.

Northeastern State University has been designated as an Alaskan Native- or Native Hawaiian-Serving Institution (ANNHI) and is eligible for federal grants enabling institutions to improve and expand their capacity to serve Alaska Natives and Native Hawaiians.

Northeastern State University is a Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institution (NASNTI). It is not controlled by a Native American tribe but it serves a percentage of American Indian and Alaska Native students.
