Being a Freshman, it is early for me to comment much on AU's academic rigor. You will be expected to study. There is plenty of help available for students who need it. The small campus makes getting around easy. I don't feel like I'm lost in the crowd at Alfred U, but rather part of a community. The town of Alfred is small, but has everything you need. If you can bring a car to campus, that is helpful for trips to nearby larger towns. The surrounding area is great for outdoor enthusiasts like me. If you're into partying and nightlife, this probably isn't the college for you.

This school is for Art and Engineer Students. They have other majors here but the school doesn\'t focus too much on us. We\'re located in a small town and the nearest walmart is a couple miles away. If you don\'t have a car you\'re screwed. The parties here are nothing like anything you see on tv. You have your typical house parties full of drunk kids. The winters here are brutal. I MEAN ALMOST CANADA BRUTAL. No matter how much snow falls or are on the ground you will have classes. For the past 3 years i have been here we only had one snow day and it was so bad that we couldn\'t get out of our dorms. The dorms are typical doubles. This school is not diverse at all. If your definition of being diverse is 70% white and every other minority in the last 30%, by all means come here. Stay on top of yout Financial Aid. They will screw with you if you are not on top of it.
