New Mexico State University-Main Campus, situated in sunny Las Cruces, New Mexico, is a public research institution established in 1888. The expansive campus lies in close proximity to the larger city of El Paso, Texas, approximately 50 miles to the south. NMSU's main campus features a blend of traditional Spanish Renaissance architecture, reflective of the region?s heritage, stretched over a desertscape backdrop. Offering a range of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs, the university is particularly noted for its College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, as well as its engineering and education programs. With a less competitive application process, the university accommodates a diverse student body. On-campus living is available and includes a variety of housing options for students. NMSU also fields a variety of athletic teams, known as the Aggies, but is primarily recognized for its contributions to research and academics rather than its athletic prowess.

In the most recent statistical year 15,860 prospective students applied, and 12,378 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 2,325 enrolled in the school.  10,766 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 3,502 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $6,283 plus fees of $1,344.
