Evangel University is a private Christian liberal arts institution located in Springfield, Missouri, positioned in the southwestern part of the state approximately 165 miles south of Kansas City. Founded in 1955 as a training center for the Assemblies of God denomination, the campus occupies a former World War II-era military hospital complex, retaining some of its original architecture while incorporating modern academic facilities. The university offers undergraduate and graduate programs with particular emphasis in behavioral sciences, business, education, and ministry preparation, maintaining selective admission standards consistent with its religious mission. Students are required to live on campus through their junior year, with seven residential halls available for student housing, and the institution competes in NAIA Division I athletics as the Valor.
