Framingham State University, located in Framingham, Massachusetts, sits 20 miles west of Boston along the technology-rich MetroWest corridor. Originally founded in 1839 as the first public women's teacher preparation school in the United States, FSU has evolved into a comprehensive public university while maintaining its historical focus on education and teaching programs. The 73-acre traditional New England campus features a mix of historic and modern buildings, centered around a classic campus green, and provides primarily on-campus housing through multiple residence halls. Beyond its established teaching and education programs, the university offers liberal arts degrees, business administration, and specialized programs in food science and nutrition, fashion design, and criminology. As a member of the NCAA Division III and the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, FSU fields teams known as the Rams in various sports including basketball, field hockey, and soccer.
