The crime rate at College Park Maryland is terrible and needs to be considered when attending.

UMD is a great school that tends to be overshadowed a bit by other large and well-respected state schools. The University has an excellent array of majors, tremendous work and internship opportunities for students, and it's location (between DC and Baltimore) provides a wonderful balance of a social life outside of the classroom. Given its strong academics, location and wonderful campus, I truly believe that anyone looking for a great education and a great college experience, should explore UMD

I?m a transfer student from LA and absolute love the campus, students, and professors. The resources here are incredible, so take advantage of them! Price is expensive, but for what Maryland offers, I think it?s reasonable. Transfers are NOT given housing. They didn?t tell me this until after I enrolled. Lots of mold, no AC, and outdated dorms from what I heard. The university can sometimes buy unusual things such as nap pods in the library. So they don?t always make the best decision. However, they do choose the best professors in the field of study to teach (except the math department). They don?t train TAs in general, so they are overworked and under prepared. Overall, the campus has room for improvements and I can say this place is absolutely incredible!
