Benedictine College is a private Catholic liberal arts institution situated on bluffs overlooking the Missouri River in Atchison, Kansas, approximately one hour north of Kansas City. Founded in 1858 by Benedictine monks, the college operates in the Catholic, Benedictine tradition and maintains its historical ties through the presence of two monasteries on campus. The 120-acre campus features collegiate Gothic architecture, including several buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Benedictine offers undergraduate programs across four colleges, with notable strengths in theology, engineering, and business, while requiring students to complete a core curriculum rooted in the liberal arts. The college maintains a residential campus culture with most students living in one of the college's residence halls, and competes in the Heart of America Athletic Conference at the NAIA level.
