University of Hawaii at Manoa, located in Honolulu, is the flagship campus of the University of Hawaii system. Founded in 1907, it is a public research university that occupies a sprawling 320-acre campus, characterized by tropical landscaping and distinctive Hawaiian-influenced architectural styles. With a sizeable number of undergraduate and graduate programs, the university is particularly recognized for its research and academic programs in fields related to Asian and Pacific studies, oceanography, astronomy, and earth sciences, capitalizing on its unique geographic location.
