Overview

Hawaii Community College, located in Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii, provides a scenic learning environment a short distance from the Pacific coastline. Established in 1941, the institution is part of the University of Hawaii system and caters to a diverse student body with an open admissions policy. The college features a range of associate degree programs, with particular emphasis on Hawaiian studies, liberal arts, and career and technical education to serve local industries. Notably, it offers unique programs related to tropical agriculture, aquaculture, and culinary arts, reflecting the island's resources and culture. Hawaii Community College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  660 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 1,467 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $3,144 plus fees of $60.
