Racial Diversity

Racial Diversity Index: 75%

Racial diversity is the chance that two students chosen at random are from different racial or ethnic groups, using the U.S. Census Bureau Diversity Index. Students at HCC are predominantly Multiracial with a smaller Asian population. The school has very high racial diversity. 86% percent of students are minorities or people of color (BIPOC). The ethnic breakdown is detailed in the following table.

Hawaii Community College has been designated as an Alaskan Native- or Native Hawaiian-Serving Institution (ANNHI) and is eligible for federal grants enabling institutions to improve and expand their capacity to serve Alaska Natives and Native Hawaiians.

The college is an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI) and is recognized for serving Asian Americans and Native American Pacific Islanders.
