The University of South Florida-Main Campus, located in Tampa, is a public research institution established in 1956. The campus is notable for its modern architecture and provides students with a mix of suburban and urban environments due to its proximity to downtown Tampa. USF offers a wide array of academic programs, with particular recognition in fields such as business, engineering, and health sciences. It has a relatively selective admissions process. The campus features student housing facilities, ranging from traditional dormitories to apartment-style living accommodations. While the university supports a full spectrum of collegiate sports, it is especially known for its strong men's and women's basketball programs, which compete under the name USF Bulls.
