Ave Maria University, established in 2003, is a relatively new private Catholic institution located in the planned town of Ave Maria, Florida, approximately 30 miles east of Naples. The university showcases distinctive Mediterranean architecture and offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs, with a particular emphasis on the liberal arts and sciences. Known for its Core Curriculum that emphasizes the Catholic intellectual tradition, the university provides a comprehensive academic experience. While Ave Maria maintains an inclusive admissions policy, it tends towards being more selective. On-campus housing is available, including residence halls and apartments, fostering a residential collegiate experience. The most popular majors at Ave Maria include Business, Administration, and Management; Biology/Biological Sciences; and Theology/Theological Studies. Although the university does offer an athletic program, it is not renowned for a high-profile sports presence; however, its teams, known as the Gyrenes, compete in the Sun Conference as part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
