Colorado State University-Pueblo (CSU-Pueblo) is a comprehensive regional institution located in Pueblo, Colorado, approximately 112 miles south of Denver. Founded in 1933 as Southern Colorado Junior College, it has since evolved and gained university status, adapting to meet the higher education needs in southern Colorado. Offering both undergraduate and graduate degree programs, CSU-Pueblo is distinguished by its emphasis on the liberal arts and sciences, business, and engineering. The university has a moderately selective admissions process. CSU-Pueblo's main campus spans 275 acres featuring a blend of modern and Southwestern Pueblo architectural styles. Residence life is an integral aspect of the student experience with multiple housing options provided for those who opt to live on campus. Academically, the university is known for its nursing, business, and mass communications programs. While CSU-Pueblo competes in NCAA Division II athletics as the ThunderWolves, the college is not primarily recognized for athletics but does maintain a competitive presence in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
