Foothill College occupies a 122-acre hillside campus in Los Altos Hills, California, approximately 40 miles south of San Francisco in the heart of Silicon Valley. The campus, designed by architect Ernest Kump and opened in 1961, features modernist architecture that earned numerous awards for its integration with the natural landscape and innovative use of indoor-outdoor spaces. Operating on a quarter system, this public two-year college maintains an open admission policy while serving as a key transfer institution to the University of California and California State University systems. The college is recognized for its STEM programs, particularly in biological and health sciences, computer science, and engineering, along with a robust dental hygiene program that operates an on-campus clinic. While primarily a commuter school, Foothill College maintains strong connections with local tech industry partners and offers extensive student support services through its STEM Success Center and Teaching and Learning Center.
