Biola University is a private evangelical Christian institution located in La Mirada, California, approximately 20 miles southeast of Los Angeles. The 95-acre suburban campus features Spanish-colonial architecture and modern academic facilities, having relocated from downtown Los Angeles to its current location in 1959. Originally established in 1908 as the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Biola has evolved into a comprehensive university while maintaining its theological foundation, offering programs across six schools with particular strengths in theology, psychology, and communications. The university maintains a selective admission process and requires students to complete 30 credits of biblical studies regardless of their major. Biola's residential campus houses the majority of its undergraduate students in traditional dormitories and apartment-style units, and the university competes in NCAA Division II athletics as the Eagles.
