Talladega College

Talladega College, Alabama's oldest private historically Black liberal arts institution, is located in the small city of Talladega, approximately 50 miles east of Birmingham. The 50-acre campus features several buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including DeForest Chapel and Foster Hall, which reflect the college's 1867 founding as a school for the children of former slaves. The institution maintains a selective admissions process and offers undergraduate degrees across various disciplines, with notable programs in biology, business administration, and criminal justice. The college's main residential campus includes six dormitories for student housing, and its athletic program competes in the NAIA Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, where the Talladega Tornadoes participate in basketball, baseball, and cross country among other sports.
