Alabama State University (ASU), established in 1867, is a public historically black university located in Montgomery, Alabama. Situated just a short drive from the state capital's downtown core, ASU offers a diverse array of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, with notable emphasis in education, business, and the sciences. The campus is recognized for its distinctive red-brick Georgian-style architecture and provides students with residential housing options. ASU maintains an open admissions policy, welcoming a broad spectrum of applicants. Academically, it supports research initiatives and boasts a rich cultural atmosphere with various community engagement programs. Although the university participates in NCAA Division I athletics, it is particularly recognized for its competitive football and basketball programs, known as the Hornets.
