Whitman is a great college for a well-rounded education and quality of life. The small town atmosphere lends well to cultivating meaningful relationships with professors, students, and staff that last well beyond college. These one-on-one interactions help students really discover who they are and can serve as excellent preparation for graduate school. I've even met some underclassmen doing graduate-level research with their professors (thanks to them being able to explore their passions and learn of openings in their preferred fields of study). They're innovating the curriculum to enable students to combine disparate interests into cohesive passions, so there's something for everyone. A great place to spend your formative years as an academic and as a person.

It sucks. Over-rated and over-priced. Mediocre professors in a very boring town. No one has heard of Whitman outside of WA state, and the students are all a bunch of rich kids with no moral fiber who weren't quite smart enough to get into a good school, so you're probably not going to meet anyone of quality.

Whitman was some of the best four years of my life--many lifelong friendships and most of my jobs have come from Whitman connections. Highly recommended!

It is what you make it, if you make an effort to go out and meet people and explore Walla Walla it can be fantastic! Very accessible professors, not great on campus housing but very cheap off campus rent, interesting classes, good atmosphere if you can figure out how to avoid the spoiled brats.
Alumnus
Awful. Costs a fortune, grading is inflated, and the courses are useless. The campus is isolated even from the little town of Walla Walla - an inescapable little fish bowl of insufferable pretentiousness. If you want a mountain of debt, an abiding resentment for the rosy-eyed, idiot children of yuppie Seattlites and a useless degree, then by all means, attend Whitman.
