Pierce College at Fort Steilacoom is located in Lakewood, Washington, approximately 40 miles south of Seattle and 10 miles southwest of Tacoma. The public two-year community college occupies a portion of the former Camp Murray/Fort Steilacoom military site, with its main campus spanning 140 acres featuring modern academic buildings and extensive open spaces. Established in 1967, the college serves the greater Pierce County region with transfer degree programs, professional technical education, and workforce development courses. Pierce College Fort Steilacoom maintains strong programs in natural sciences, business, and nursing, while also operating an environmental science field research station at nearby Science and Math Institute (SAMi). The campus includes student housing facilities specifically designed for international students, making it one of the few community colleges in Washington state to offer on-campus residential options.
