Hampden-Sydney College, located in rural central Virginia approximately 60 miles southwest of Richmond, is one of only three remaining all-male liberal arts colleges in the United States. Founded in 1775, the historic campus features Federal and Colonial-style architecture across 1,340 acres of woodland terrain. The private liberal arts institution maintains a classical curriculum centered on rhetoric, logic, and western civilization studies, with particular strengths in economics, government, and classics programs. Students reside in traditional dormitories and fraternity houses, with nearly all undergraduates living on campus throughout their four years. The college competes in NCAA Division III athletics as the Tigers, participating in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
